The Australian Tax Office incursion was an event for Al Amanah Year 9-12 students that was held on Thursday 20 February 2020. As our students may start part-time and casual work it is necessary that the school tries to prepare them for the real world. The purpose of these sessions was to give the students an insight about the basic understanding of:
· Why we pay tax?
· What a tax file number is and how to get one?
· Declaring your tax file number to your employer
· Superannuation – or “Super”
· What a tax return is and how to lodge a claim and the importance of protecting their TFN?
Students found it very beneficial as it gave them a basic idea of what they need to do before they start any employment and how the tax system works in Australia. It was a great session that was enjoyed by the students.
